93% Of Medicaid Expansion Enrollees In Hennepin County, Minnesota Use Social Services Or Are Involved With The Justice System
Medicaid expansion enrollees in Hennepin County, Minnesota had substantially higher levels of health care utilization than the general public, and 93% of the expansion enrollees were also involved with human services, homeless shelters, or the criminal justice system. About 87% of Hennepin County expansion enrollees had a health care claim. About 68% were involved in human services; the most common service was food support. About 34% had criminal justice involvement. About 13% spent at least one night in emergency shelter or supportive housing. Eight percent of enrollees had contact with all four public service systems.
