Half Of Child Medicaid Beneficiaries Received Required EPSDT Screenings
About half of Medicaid beneficiaries age 20 and younger in fiscal year 2017 received screenings and services recommended under the Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) benefit. The other half did not receive the recommended screenings. Through the benefit, children receive well-child screenings for health, vision, dental, and hearing; diagnostic; and treatment services, such as physical therapy, behavioral health treatment, and eyeglasses to correct or mitigate conditions discovered during a screening.
