Florida Allows Assisted Living Residents To Use Assistive Devices For Mobility & Independence
On March 10, 2020, the Florida legislature passed a bill that includes provisions allowing residents of assisted living and memory care communities to use assistive devices to aid their independence. Permissible devices are those designed or adapted to help a resident perform an action, task, an activity of daily living, a transfer; or to prevent a fall, or aid recovery from a fall. Such devices include wearables, transfer aids, arthritis supports, shoe inserts, and telehealth technologies.
