Florida Medicaid To Launch Child Welfare Specialty Plan Enrollment In May 2014

In May 2014, the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) will launch enrollment in a new Medicaid managed care Child Welfare Specialty Plan for foster children. The statewide plan is operated by Sunshine Health, a Centene subsidiary, in conjunction with Community-Based Care Integrated Health (CBCIH). The five-year contract is valued at $1.1 billion. Approximately 31,600 Florida children are eligible to enroll in the Child Welfare Specialty Plan because foster children are automatically enrolled in Medicaid.
