Florida Judge Orders Miami Area Foster Care Group Homes To Have Two On-Site Staff
On January 13, 2016, a Florida judge ordered the Department of Children and Families (DCF) and Our Kids of Miami-Dade/Monroe, the DCF Lead Agency for Community-Based Care in the southern region to ensure that its contracted foster care group homes have two on-site awake staff at all times. The order came after a video surfaced on social media in which a foster group home employee failed to stop a fight between two 11-year-old boys at the home. DCF reported the incident to police several weeks learning about the incident.
