Feds Expand Program For Incarcerated Students, Invite 67 Schools To Join
On April 24, 2020, the U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos announced that the U.S. Department of Education is inviting a new cohort of 67 schools to participate in its expanded Second Chance Pell experiment. The Second Chance Pell Experiment allows participating schools to provide need-based Federal Pell Grants to otherwise eligible students who are incarcerated in Federal or State penal institutions, and will be eligible for release into the community.
