Three New Mexico Counties Had No Medicaid Behavioral Health Professionals In 2017
During 2017, three rural/frontier New Mexico counties had no Medicaid behavioral health professionals who could prescribe. These counties were among 19 New Mexico counties that had a median of less than two licensed behavioral health professionals per 1,000 Medicaid managed care members that year. Only 29% of licensed behavioral health professionals and about half of the state’s nearly 670,000 Medicaid managed care enrollees lived in rural or frontier counties.
