Federal Bureau Of Prisons To Impose New Requirements For Residential Reentry Centers
On March 24, 2014, the federal Department of Justice (DOJ) announced plans to impose new requirements for the federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) residential reentry centers (RRC). In the announcement Attorney General Eric Holder said the RRCs will be required to offer standardized cognitive behavioral programming (CBP) to address recidivism risk factors, greater assistance to inmates who are pursuing job opportunities, access to transportation funds, and expanded access to electronic monitoring equipment. During 2013, RRCs served more than 30,000 federal inmates transitioning from prison to release in the community.
