On July 18, 2019, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that lawsuits challenging nursing home consumer eviction policies could move forward. The lawsuits were filed by three residents who alleged that the nursing homes' refusal to readmit them after a hospitalization was illegal and constituted "patient dumping." The residents appealed the eviction, and received a state order for readmission.
