Federal Agencies Lost Track Of Nearly 1,500 Migrant Children After Placement With Sponsors
On April 26, 2018, an official with the federal Administration for Children and Families (ACF) disclosed to a Congressional committee that ACF’s Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) had been unable to locate nearly 1,500 migrant children it had placed with family sponsors. ORR is responsible for the care and placement of unaccompanied alien children.
In testimony to the Senate homeland security subcommittee, ACF Acting Assistant Secretary Steven Wagner discussed how ACF works with the Department of Homeland Security to protect unaccompanied alien children (UAC) from human trafficking and abuse.
