Emergency Department Visits For Opioid Overdose Increased Nearly 30% Nationwide Between 2016 & 2017
Emergency department visits for opioid overdose increased 29.7% across the United States between 2016 and 2017. Deaths occurring from opioid overdose increased an average of 27.9% from 2015 to 2016.
These findings were reported in “Vital Signs: Trends in Emergency Department Visits for Suspected Opioid Overdoses — United States, July 2016–September 2017” by Alana M.
