Analysts Identify Eight Federal Policy Changes To Improve Effectiveness Of U.S. Behavioral Health System
Eight federal policy changes to existing funds or authorities could improve behavioral health care in the public and private sectors. No new or additional funding for behavioral health would be needed to refocus federal policy to remove barriers to delivery of behavioral health services that are evidence based, culturally sensitive, and likely to improve lives. The changes would align policies across federal programs and agencies; ensure consistent application of effective strategies; and define specific technical assistance, consultation, or other types of active facilitation.
