Death Rate From Falls Up 31% From 2007 To 2016 Among Older Adults
Between 2007 and 2016, the incidence of fatal accidental falls among people age 65 and older increased by 31%. In 2007, the death rate due to a fall was 47.0 per 100,000 people age 65 and older; that year there were 18,334 fall-related deaths. In 2016, the death rate due to a fall was 61.6 per 100,000; that year there were 29,668 fall-related deaths.
