Controlled Blood Pressure Rates Twice As High For People With Health Insurance Vs. Uninsured
The share of people with hypertension who have controlled blood pressure is about twice as high for people with private insurance (48.2%), Medicare (53.4%), and Medicaid (43.2%) compared to uninsured people (24.2%). Those with a usual health care source were also more likely to have controlled blood pressure, at 48.4% compared to 26.5% for those without a regular source of care. Blood pressure control was higher among those who had a health care visit in the past year, at 49.1%, compared to those who had not, at 8.0%.
