Connecticut Medicaid Decreases Rates To Nursing Homes With Occupancy Under 70%
In mid-August 2019, the Connecticut Department of Social Services (DSS) notified nursing homes with less than 70% occupancy that their Medicaid reimbursement rate would be cut, retroactive to July 1, 2019. Of the state’s 213 operational long-term care facilities, nine will experience a net rate reduction. The remaining 204 nursing homes will receive net reimbursement increases because their occupancy levels are above 70%, and they received high quality scores on the federal Nursing Home Compare rankings. This policy change to reimbursement had been announced in February 2019.
