CMS Cuts Promotion Of & Opportunities To Enroll In Health Insurance Marketplace
On August 31, 2017, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Center For Consumer Information & Insurance Oversight (CCIIO) announced funding and other changes affecting promotions for the health insurance marketplace and enrollment opportunities. These include:
- A 90% cut to the promotion and advertising budget, from $100 million last year to $10 million for the upcoming enrollment period. The administration said the lower sum is the same amount of promotional spending for Medicare Advantage and Medicare Part D drug plans.
