CMS Considers New Medicaid Quality Measure: Healthy Days In The Community

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) is considering a proposed quality measure for dual eligibles (people eligible for both Medicare and Medicaid): Healthy Days in the Community. The measure is based on the average number of days within a year that dual eligible beneficiaries are residing in the community without utilizing acute or post-acute health care services. The proposed measure defines acute and post-acute health care services as including: hospital inpatient care , hospital outpatient observation, inpatient rehabilitation facility, long-term care hospital, inpatient psychiatric facility, or skilled nursing facility, days of emergency department use, and days . . .
