CMS Approves Arizona’s Medicaid Work & Community Engagement Demonstration Amendment
On January 18, 2019, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved Arizona’s Medicaid waiver amendment to implement work and community engagement reporting requirements. The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) Works program requirements may begin no sooner than January 1, 2020. The amendment requires that certain individuals, ages 19 through 49, engage in qualifying community engagement activities for at least 80 hours per month, and report monthly that they are meeting the work and community engagement requirements.
