Average Cost Of Health Services For Children With Autism Increased 19% Post Parity Implementation
The mean cost for health care services provided to commercially insured children with autism increased by 19% after the 2008 Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act (MHPAEA) went into effect in 2010. The annual average number of outpatient visits increased by 36%, from 11.1 visits during 2007 through 2009, to 15.1 visits during 2010 through 2012.
