CDC Recommends Against COVID-19 Testing For Exposed But Asymptomatic
On August 24, 2020, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) changed its guidelines for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) testing and recommended against testing most people with potential virus exposure but not experiencing symptoms. *Editor's note: On September 19, 2020, the CDC reversed this guideline and now recommends testing "all close contacts" of anyone infected with COVID-19.
Previously, the CDC recommended testing for anyone with suspected COVID-19 exposure, whether or not the person was experiencing possible COVID-19 symptoms. The CDC is still recommending testing if state or local public health officials recommend . . .
