Calls To The Los Angeles County Child Protection Hotline Down By 50% During COVID-19 Emergency
As of April 22, 2020, calls to the Los Angeles County Child Protection Hotline decreased by 50%, compared to rates prior to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) public health emergency. In March 2020, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department documented about 4,200 reports on its suspected-child-abuse reporting system, compared with 5,218 reports in March 2019. In the first week of April 2020, 662 reports were received, compared with 1,352 in the first week of April 2019.
