California Medicaid To Extend The Public Hospital Global Payment Program For Uncompensated Care Through December 2020
On August 3, 2020, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) approved a request from the California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to amend its Medicaid 1115 waiver and extend its Global Payment Program (GPP) to compensate designated public health care systems (PHCS) for uncompensated care. The GPP is a statewide pool of funding for the remaining uninsured. It combines federal Disproportionate Share Hospital (DSH) payments and Safety Net Care Pool (SNCP) payments.
