California Implements ‘Bill Of Rights’ For LGBT Long-Term Care Residents
On October 4, 2017, California enacted a law to create a long-term care “bill of rights” for adults who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender (LGBT). The law prevents long-term care facilities from taking certain actions wholly or partially on the basis of a person’s actual or perceived sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, or human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) status.
