Nurse Practitioners May Represent 27% Of The Family Practice Workforce By 2025
By 2025, about 27% of family practice/ primary care professionals will be nurse practitioners, up from about 18.5% of the workforce in 2010 and 2013, according to federal workforce projections. In 2010, nurse practitioners represented 18.5% of the 295,000 professionals in the primary care workforce; physicians represented 70.8%; and physician assistants represented 10.2% of the primary care workforce.
