Buprenorphine MAT Adherence Reduces Likelihood Of Relapse After Opioid Addiction Treatment
Among commercially insured adults with opioid use disorder who started medication assisted treatment (MAT) with buprenorphine, about 21% had at least one relapse indicator during the year after treatment. Those with lower adherence to MAT had relapse rates ranging from 20% to 30% compared to 11% for those who adhered to MAT. Adherence was defined as more than 80% days covered with buprenorphine.
