United Kingdom National Health Service Launches Obesity Prevention Strategy
On July 27, 2020, the United Kingdom National Health Service (NHS) Department of Health and Social Care launched an obesity prevention strategy. The strategy includes a new set of measures and a “Better Health” campaign led by Public Health England to help people make healthier food choices and increase their activity levels. The goal is to help overweight adults reach a healthy weight.
The strategy includes the following provisions:
- Ban on television and online advertisements for food high in fat, sugar, and salt before 9:00 pm.
