Blue Cross & Blue Shield Of Minnesota To Cut Psychotherapy Rates By 18%
On September 14, 2017, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota announced that it was reducing mental health reimbursement rates by about 18% on January 1, 2018. On that date, BCBSM will reduce the rates paid for psychotherapy sessions that last 53 minutes or longer. The goal is to bring the rates in line with industry norms.
BCBSM also announced that since July 2017, it has been recouping recently discovered overpayment errors from mental health professionals. As of September 2017, BCBSM said all mental health professionals were being paid accurately for psychotherapy.
