Behavioral Health Claims For Adolescents Doubled In A Decade
Behavioral health claims for individuals aged 11 to 18 increased 108%, rising from 1.3% of all medical claim lines in 2007 to 2.7% in 2017. Adjustment disorder claim lines for individuals aged 11 to 18 increased by 54% from 2007 to 2017. Adjustment disorder claim lines for that age group rose from 0.57% of all medical claim lines in 2007 to 0.89% in 2017; while the pediatric share of private insurance claim lines for major depressive disorder for young people under age 23 rose from 15% of claim lines in 2007 to 23% in 2017.
