Average Nursing Facility Deficiencies Declined 22% Between 2009 & 2016
Nursing facility deficiencies declined 22% overall, falling from an average of 9.33 in 2009 to 7.28 in 2016. Moreover, the number of facilities with no deficiencies decreased overall from 6.88% in 2011 to 6.50% in 2016. A deficiency is defined as a citation given when a facility fails to meet a requirement in state survey standards for resident outcomes and safety.
