Average Out-Of-Pocket Health Care Costs Estimated At $395,000 For A 65-Year-Old Healthy Couple Retiring In 2016
Healthy 65-year old married couples retiring in 2016 will have average out-of-pocket health care costs of $395,000 over the next 20 years for Medicare premiums, copayments, and coinsurance. The cost estimate does not include catastrophic health-related events, or premiums for long-term care insurance to cover ongoing home care, adult day care, assisted living, or nursing home care.
