Audit Finds $600 Million+ Error In New Jersey Special Education & Medicaid School-Based Billing
An audit found that the state of New Jersey wrongly billed the Federal Government for $300.5 million in unallowable special education service costs. The State also billed the Federal Government another $306.5 million in Medicaid school-based reimbursements using payment rates based on costs that were not properly established.
These findings were presented in "New Jersey Claimed Hundreds Of Millions In Unallowable Or Unsupported Medicaid School-Based Reimbursement," by the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of the Inspector General.
