Arizona Submits Request To Add Work Requirements To Medicaid Program
On December 19, 2017, the Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) submitted a Medicaid 1115 waiver amendment request to add work or community engagement requirements and a five-year maximum lifetime benefit limit for a portion of the Medicaid population. The amendment is called “AHCCCS Works.” The provisions are intended to provide low-income, able-bodied adults ages 19 to 55 with the tools needed to gain and maintain meaningful employment, job training, and education. Nearly 400,000 people are enrolled in the Arizona Medicaid program.
