On October 16, 2017, the American Medical Association (AMA) launched its Integrated Health Model Initiative (IHMI) to create a common health care data framework for electronic health records (EHRs). The goal is to develop a new EHR design that would ease data entry burdens for health care professionals, provide better and more actionable information to guide clinical care decisions, and facilitate development of care plans that are more relevant to consumer quality-of-life and consistent with consumer lifestyles, goals, and health status.
