Hospital Association Releases Recommendations For Medicare ACO Program For More Shared Savings Opportunities
Medicare Pioneer and Shared Savings Program accountable care organization (ACO) models currently place too much risk on provider organizations, but have too little opportunity for shared savings rewards; this is according to a comment letter from the American Hospital Association to the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). On April 17, 2014, the American Hospital Association told CMS that its leadership believes that few additional health care provider organizations would apply to participate in the Pioneer ACO model as it is currently constructed.
