Alcohol-Related Emergency Room Visits Rose Nearly 62% From 2006 To 2014
Alcohol-related visits to the emergency room rose from 3,080,214 to 4,976,136 between 2006 and 2014. This is a 61.6% increase. During the same time, the U.S. population rose 6.8%. During this time, costs for these visits increased about 73% from about $4.1 billion, to approximately $15.3 billion. Alcohol-related emergency room visits include both acute and chronic alcohol related visits.
