AHIP & ACLI Propose Four Actions To Increase Consumer Purchase Of Long-Term Care Insurance
To improve consumer uptake of long-term care insurance (LTCI), America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) and the American Council of Life Insurers (ACLI) developed a four-point plan. The plan starts with a national education campaign focused on likelihood of needing LTC, and is followed by federal policy changes that allow tax incentives to promote workplace and retirement plan options that include LTCI. Further, they recommended that LTC plans allow policyholders to use their LTC policies to pay for incidental benefits prior to a covered illness.
