ADHD Prescriptions Increase Over 300% Among Young Women

The percentage of women who filled prescriptions for attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) increased by 344% from 2003 to 2015. In 2015, 4.0% of women ages 15-to-44 with private insurance filled at least one prescription for ADHD medication, compared to 0.9% of women in 2003. The average number of prescriptions filled each year also rose from an average of 5.5 prescriptions, to 7.2 prescriptions during that time period.
