ACO Pay-For-Performance Program For Child Medicaid Beneficiaries Improved Physician Performance On Quality Measures
A pay for performance (P4P) program implemented by a Medicaid accountable care organization (ACO) serving children resulted in modest improvement in physician performance when compared to physicians who did not participate in the P4P program. The program incentives were based on physician performance over a four-year period on 21 Healthcare Effectiveness Data Information Set (HEDIS) quality measures for preventive care, chronic care, and acute care primary care services.
