ACF Reduces State Foster Care Data Tracking Requirements
On May 12, 2020, the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) issued a final rule to make changes to the Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System (AFCARS) that eliminate data collection for measures of educational stability, living arrangements, and authority for placement and care responsibility. It also reduces data elements to be collected related to the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978 (ICWA). This final rule is effective on July 13, 2020. Certain provisions will be delayed until October 1, 2022.
