Feds To Focus On Enforcing Compliance With Parity Law

On April 30, 2018, the federal departments of Health and Human Services, Labor, and Treasury released a “Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Parity Action Plan” for enforcing the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act of 2008 (MHPAEA). The plan reports current and planned federal actions for reporting parity violations and enforcement of violations, health plan disclosure and increased transparency requirements, tools to help consumers who think they experienced a violation, compliance tools for employers and health plans, and technical assistance for states.
