40 Days Of Mindfulness Meditation Creates Structural Brain Changes
Participation in 40 days of mindfulness meditation alters the brain structure, resulting in improved quality of life. Specifically, brain imaging in candidates participating in 40 days of mindfulness meditation revealed changes in the precuneus and posterior cingulate cortex of the brain. The precuneus region is involved with episodic memory retrieval, visuospatial imagery, reflections upon self, and aspects of consciousness. The posterior cingulate cortex is involved in learning and motivation, as well as moral valuation processes.
