35% Of College Freshmen Worldwide Have Symptoms Of Mental Disorders
Approximately 35.3% of college freshmen around the world have symptoms of common mental health disorders. These disorders include major depressive episode, generalized anxiety disorder, panic disorder, broad mania, alcohol use disorder, and substance use disorder. Major depressive disorder (MDD) was the most common disorder reported, at a 21.2% lifetime prevalence.
These findings were presented in "WHO World Mental Health Surveys International College Student Project: Prevalence and Distribution of Mental Disorders," by Randy P.
