By 2050, U.S. Alzheimer’s Costs Projected To Reach $1.5 Trillion Annually
The annual cost of caring for Americans living with Alzheimer’s disease is projected to rise from $307 billion in 2010 to $1.5 trillion by 2050. During the same period, the number of people in the United States age 70 and older living with Alzheimer’s disease is projected to rise 157%, from 3.6 million in 2010 to 9.1 million by 2050. The per-person cost of treatment and care is expected to double from $71,000 in 2010 to $140,000 per person by 2050.
