Medication Non-Adherence Doubles Risk of Rehospitalization for Schizophrenia Patients
For patients with recent-onset schizophrenia, the risk of rehospitalization within 28 days was twice as high for those who demonstrated early non-adherence to medication, compared to patients who had no gap in antipsychotic treatment. Compared to people discharged with sufficient antipsychotic medication for the first week, people discharged with a prescription who failed to fill it were 1.75 more likely to be rehospitalized.
