60% Of Vulnerable Homeless Individuals Report History Of Addiction Disorder
More than 60% of the more than 30,000 unsheltered homeless individuals surveyed during the second quarter of 2014 reported having a history of addiction disorder. Of the 30,128 individuals surveyed, 17,888 (59.4%) had current or past addiction disorder. About 35.6% of the 30,128 surveyed reported receiving addiction treatment. About 13.9% said they injected drugs, 15.4% said they drank alcohol daily during the past 30 days. Mental health disorders common, and 40.9% reported a history of mental health treatment, with 15.3% reporting a history of mental health treatment against their will . . .
