Benton County, Oregon to Start Pilot Mental Health Jail Diversion Program

The Benton County, Oregon, Sheriffs Office plans to start a pilot mental health diversion program very soon, according to Sheriff Diana Simpson. The program will provide housing, treatment, and supervision for the pilots two participants who would normally be held in the county jail. Eligible participants will be non-violent Benton County jail inmates with mental health issues who have a felony record, are on probation or parole, and are homeless.
