New Medicaid Options Give States Increased Services For Homeless Individuals
New Medicaid options—Health Homes, the 1915i Home-and Community-Based State Plan Option, and Medicaid Rehabilitation and Targeted Case Management Services—give states the ability to reduce state spending related to high-cost homeless individuals by adding supportive housing and care management services to the state Medicaid plan. The options offer an enhanced Medicaid match that can reduce state outlays related to homeless individuals, giving states an opportunity to create additional units of supported housing and expand access to care management—without increasing current state spending—as a long-term strategy to reduce future state spending related to homeless . . .
