June 4, 2001 Pennsylvania Launches Statewide Campaign to Fight Stigma Against Mental Illness In May 2001, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge and Department of Public Welfare (DPW) Secretary Feather O. Houstoun joined with mental health advocacy groups across the state to launch a comprehensive campaign to fight stigma against mental illness.
