75% Of Informal Caregivers Report Caregiving Affects Health

About 75% of informal caregivers for adults with physical or mental disabilities report that caregiving has affected their health, and 60% said caregiving caused them to lose sleep. About 20% of caregivers say the responsibilities cause them to miss work sometimes; another 4% said they often missed work due to caregiving responsibilities. About 11% of adults in the United States (about 43.5 million people) are informal caregivers for an adult family member, relative, or friend on a regular basis.
