Indiana to End Healthy Indiana Plan in 2014

On March 22, 2010, Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels said that when the federal health reform legislation takes full effect in 2014, the state will eliminate its Healthy Indiana Plan (HIP) for low-income residents earning less than 200% of the federal poverty level who have no access to insurance. The new federal health care reform law would force most current HIP enrollees into Medicaid, so once the federal law goes into effect, all 45,000 enrollees will be transferred to the states Medicaid . . .
